Deli At The End of The World
A downloadable game
A short strange adventure game where you navigate though strange and wonderful environments of varying quality.
CONTENT DISCLAIMER: this game contains loud noises, foul language, and some allusions and imagery involving drug use.
PUBLIC DOMAIN DISCLAIMER? I'm not sure if I have to mention this but i used footage from some public domain movies. The Cabinet of Dr Caligari (1920), Manos the Hands of fate(1966), and Night of the living dead(1969). I didn't make these I wasn't alive then
AI ART DISCLAIMER. The money graphic and faces in the office level were AI generated (the money was a base I modified but still). I made these like a year back as placeholders but Ive gotten attached to them and they made it in, I've been trying to do as much of the art myself so I'll probably replace them at some point but for now they remain. Its sort of fitting, money and dull office work, two soulless aspects of society being represented soulless machine bastardizations of creativity. absolutely not because its 11:30 and im to tired to redraw things and was curious what an ai would think Dom Deluise looked like on a dollar bill last year.
Its kinda weird and quirky, I dont entirely know how to define it...I'm trying to make some kind of adventure game that rewards just messing around and seeing what you can make happen. I probably spent a little too much time on systems so content is bare but I had a good time making this so I think that's what its all about ya know.
The idea for this came up after the Unity debacle a while back, I felt pretty bad thinking about letting go of the tool Id been using for at least a decade along with a bunch of weird prototypes I started a few years back. I figured I'd sorta just mash em all together for a final send off before trying a new engine. Id rather them be cobbled together into some weird janky mess that sees the light of day instead just getting deleted when my hard drive fails or idk sun spots or some shit.
I do plan on continuing this project or something in the vain of it, maybe in Unity still maybe elsewhere. I wrote a lot of code i'm proud of and learned a ton about level design, pacing, blocking things out, sequences. The music was made by my brother and I, he did the snyth stuff in the first level and I did the guitar tracks in the second. And while I would never publicly or officially on the record recommend the use of any substances while playing this game...it may have helped with development
